Exploring London’s green spaces: Greenwich Park
Renowned for its rich naval history and the Prime Meridian line, Greenwich is home to a variety of cultural and geographical landmarks. Comprised of historic buildings and rolling green hills, Greenwich is the striking counterpart to its corporate cousin, Canary Wharf.
A short journey from the bustling streets of central and city sky-scrapers – and you’ll find yourself in an alternative suburbia. A vibrant vintage and wholesale marketplace is situated away from the main high-street, with a maze of narrow alleys leading to its centre. Trendy cafes, restaurants, pubs and bars ripple the cobbled streets, guiding you towards Greenwich Park – London’s very own emerald city.
We decided to visit the park just before sunset, making sure to catch Canary Wharf in its sundown splendour. As purple rays speckle the skyline and the distant views of central fade into the evening, you may want to put down your camera, take a seat and enjoy the view. This romantic spot is the perfect preliminary to date night – and Greenwich’s lively high-street is sure to keep you occupied after hours. Whether you sight-see in daylight, brunch at noon, dine at dusk, or simply step out for some scenic fresh-air, Greenwich offers a little something for everyone, a one-stop escape from high-rise haven.
