Displaying an array of medieval & renaissance artwork, silverware and armour, the decadent walls of Hertford House are home to a vast collection accumulated by the first four marquesses of Hertford and Sir Richard Wallace. Having opened its doors to the public in 1900, Hertford House allows us to step back in time, delving into a treasure trove of cultural history.
Adorning vibrant wallpaper, ornate furniture, marble accents & more, the gallery itself is a masterpiece of design. With streams of natural light cascading from ceiling-high windows and a central skylight, the architecture of Hertford House is a sight to behold in itself – whilst many may save art galleries & museums for a rainy-day, I recommend visiting The Wallace Collection on a clear, bright morning. Admire the collection in all of its glory, before basking in the central restaurant with lunch and a mimosa.
Admirers of Rembrandt, Canaletto, Hals and Rubens, will be pleased to see their work displayed amongst many others within the collection. From the heavenly & ethereal to the shadowy depths of portraiture, The Wallace Collection is a vast and diverse collection, that is not to be missed.

Whilst you admire fine art, architecture and decor, be sure to stop by The Wallace Collection restaurant – a beautiful and bright space, with a variety of drinks, lunches and small plates on offer.
