Anyone that knows me would have heard me rave about Ma Cuisine at one point or another. I was firstly introduced to this classic style bistro a few years ago by my father, who has been a regular visitor here for years and there’s no wonder why! This 1950s style restaurant is located in the heart of Kew village only a short walk from Kew station, and only a 5-minute walk from Kew Gardens. A bright crimson exterior and quaint al fresco style dining is sure to tempt you in – and once you get a glimpse of the menu, you’re sure to be hooked!

During the summer months and the warmer months of Autumn and Spring, be sure to reserve a table outside and bask in the sunshine whilst people watching. If you head down for lunch on the first Sunday of the month, you’ll be met by crowds of visitors and locals scrambling into the village for the monthly Kew market.

Top Tip: Always be book yourself in early, as it gets booked up quickly – it’s no secret to the locals that Ma Cuisine is a great spot for lunch!

The Food

I am certain that Ma Cuisine serves up the best french onion soup in London – I for one, am yet to taste anything quite as superior. It’s warming and delicious, and comes with the stringiest cheesy crouton lid you could imagine. On my most recent visit, I ordered the ratatouille stuffed aubergine, served alongside seasonal vegetables and potato dauphinoise (v), which was delicious to say the least. The rich, creamy aubergine paired excellently with the tangy tomatoes, and the dauphinoise were beautifully crisp, yet fluffy and light.

Whilst the food has certainly never disappointed, it is the service that is truly the star of the show. Fine food coupled with fine service, there really is nothing quite like it!

Some notable dishes from previous visits include: French Ceasar salad, sea trout with baked cauliflower and the bread and butter pudding.
