Jolene has been patiently waiting on my list of places to go for a while now. I had heard amazing things about their coffee and pastries, and felt that it was about time I took a look for myself. I was not disappointed.
Jolene is clearly a popular spot, with a queue of customers lining up to get their fill. Unfortunately, we arrived too late on this occasion to get a true sense of their bakery bites, which had been gobbled up already. The only option left was a lonesome carrot cake, which of course, I bought. We did however, get a taste of their infamous coffee, which did indeed live up to our expectations. A creamy blend, which was perfectly balanced and not too bitter. The carrot cake also lived up to it’s name, a rich and flavoursome sponge with a light and moreish cream topping – as far as carrot cakes go, it was definitely above standard, deserving a solid 7/10. Having seen their loaded sandwiches and other tasty bakes online however, I shall no doubt be returning for round two!
