Whilst above all, Bread Ahead is a bakery, it has become predominantly renowned for one item in particular. Famous for their delicious range of sugar dusted treats, this Borough bakery is driving Londoners dough-nuts!

Yes you guessed it – doughnuts are the latest media craze sending TikTokers wild! And rightfully so. I bagged a couple of these fluffy orbs and here’s what I thought:

1. Raspberry Jam

7/10 – An all time classic! You can’t go wrong with a jam doughnut in my opinion. A beautiful balance of tart and fruity vs light and sweet – a match made in heaven!

2. Sea Salted Caramel & Honeycomb

8/10 – This is the most impressive looking doughnut by far and it tastes good too. I’m a big fan of balancing out sweetness as it prevents things from becoming too sickly. Salt + caramel = the perfect combination, and the honeycomb helps to add a little extra depth and crunch.

3. Velvet Chocolate

6/10 – Against my better judgment, I opted for a choc stuffed nut. I often find these far too heavy and far too sweet, but everything deserves a chance hey? To my surprise, it was a lot better than any I have tried before – the chocolate was light and mousse like, with a strong cacao flavour. Not my favourite but that’s just me!

4. Pistachio

9/10 – Only occasionally appearing as part of their seasonal selections, the pistachio option was a welcome surprise! I am biased here as pistachio is one of my favourite flavours. Unlike many pistachio flavoured treats i’ve tested, Bread Ahead didn’t overpower the nutty, buttery flavour with sweeteners. This was light and creamy, perfectly dreamy.
