One of London’s hidden gems
- Where? Embankment Station, Villiers St, London WC2N 6DU
- When? mid-April (exact dates vary)
- How long? They last 1-2.5 weeks
Tucked away behind the arches of Embankment station is the unassuming beauty of the Victoria Embankment Gardens. A lush green space all year round, with a secret spring surprise. Painting the flower beds in a bright array, sprouting tulips rear their heads for less than two weeks every year.
If, like myself, you happen to stumble upon this rare sight by chance, then you’ll know that the gardens are worth visiting all-year round regardless. The gardens are also host to a range of historical features, from statues to water-gates, making for an interesting detour on your walk from Embankment to Westminster or Temple. There is also a small courtyard on the cusp, home to a quaint cafe, where you can sit back and relax away from the haste of the city streets.
