Egg Slut had been on our radar for quite some time, so we finally boiled up the courage to try out this eggy spot in Notting Hill. This contemporary diner-style cafe serves up a range of – you guessed it – eggy delicacies. From breakfast buns to egg-custard puddings, nearly every item on the menu comes complete with an egg. I’m not yolking!

This rather unique city spot attracts huge crowds, with queues of hungry visitors trailing down the pavement outside. Though there is some seating inside, most opt to take their eggy baps to go, trying not to drip their yolks over the vintage brooches and antique vases of Portobello Road market. If you’re heading to Notting Hill early to avoid the crowds, then be sure to fill up on Egg Slut on your way!

The Food

Bacon egg & cheese – £10.95

5/10 – I opted for the classic bacon, egg and cheese this time around, and all in all, it was enjoyable. The bacon is nice and crispy, and the ingredients taste high quality. Though the egg is supposed to be the star of the show, it wasn’t my favourite part – a bit too slimy for my liking. Next time, I’m open to trying something else, perhaps something scrambled rather than sunny side up!

Truffle Hash Browns – £4.50

7/10 – The hash browns were seemingly a crowd favourite, making it onto the orders of nearly every customer before us. They’re incredibly crispy on the outside, yet lovely and fluffy in the centre – I can understand the hype over these. The truffle flavour is pleasantly subtle, and I would definitely order these again. The only slight letdown is the sheer amount of oil in these, which became overpowering after a couple.
