After a frosty walk around the gardens of Kew, we headed over to the Coach & Horses to snuggle up, grab a drink and indulge in a hearty British roast.
First things first, the Coach & Horses has a beautiful location right on the cusp of Kew Green. With plenty of outdoor seating, this is the perfect Spring/Summer time spot to spend some time with family and friends. For the cooler months, head inside and nestle down in a bright, bold and quirky dining space. The maximalist style is both creative and comforting, vibrant yet cosy, a great space to sit back, relax and keep warm.
The service here is absolutely exceptional, with friendly restaurant and bar staff who make the experience all the more special. I’d highly recommend a visit, whether you happen to be in the area, are local or are looking for a spot for lunch after a walk around Kew village or the gardens.
The Food
Roast Chicken with Bread Sauce (and all the trimmings)
6/10 – As far as roast lunches go, this is a solid performer. The Yorkshire pudding stole the show. It was fluffy, light and huge, much better then most pubs that usually serve up overcooked Yorkshire crisps!
The potatoes were tasty and well seasoned, however I prefer them slightly more on the crispy side and the chicken was nice, but slightly dry for my personal liking. The biggest disappointment however, was that the chicken was served without the bread sauce (my favourite bit) and the cauliflower cheese was stone cold.
I agree, the roast potatoes were just big lumps of starch, and the cauliflower cheese tasted as if it came straight out of the fridge. Food just 4/10, but friendly service 8/10.
